Crabman and George

This was painted on St Simon’s Island, at dawn. There were a handful of fishermen, but only one crabber. He cast his net with grace, all the while keeping up a steady conversation with the attending grackle. The low early sunlight flamed the orange decking. It was a complex and challenging scene, but one I could not pass by.
