This painting was based off a memory of a backpacking trip in Joshua Tree National Park. During this adventure with some great friends, I had the opportunity to do some plein air painting while we hiked in 49 Palms Oasis. This strange and unique environment was difficult to capture, but I was particularly drawn to the intense warmth and vibrance the light emanated throughout the landscape. With the help of my plein air study, photographs I took, and imagination; I aimed to recreate this experience.
