Water Maiden of Lilypons

While painting the gardens of Lilypons in Montgomery County I got best of both -- figurative work and landscape. The graceful turn of the Water Maiden's head leads one to try and find what she was connecting with while still performing her duty of watering the lilies. The setting made the statue come alive for me as the birds flew about their water bath. I loved observing the contrast of the stationary stone maiden and the vibrant life around her. The newly blooming waterlilies brought attention to the ageless statue and the still bare trees in the background, The setting projected a complete vibrant cycle of seasons across ages.
